A One-Way Driver Kills TRACE Official at Owode-Ijako Road, Ota, Ogun State

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE)  on Friday announced the schoking death of one of its operatives, Badru Malik who was knocked down and killed  by a 'one-way' driver in the course of discharging his duty at Owode-Ijako Road, Ota, Ogun.

TRACE Corps Commander/CEO 'Seni Ogunyemi, who dropped the news info in Ota, that the accident happened on Saturday at about 4.30 p. m. at Owode-Ijako area. Malik  was knocked down by a public commercial bus driving against the traffic, shortly after he had finished the job for the day.

"The convoy of the Deputy Governor of Ogun State was on the road, chased the absconded driver, but unfortunately he jumped down into the swappy bush,  abandoning his bus in the middle of the road".

The TRACE boss further explained that the deputy governor was one of the people that rescued the TRACE victim of 'one-way' driving, taking him  to Ifo General hospital, before he was later transferred to a specialist hosipital  in Abeokuta for an intensive treatment.

According to Ogunyemi the deputy governor deposited some money immediate for commencement of treatment of Malik.

He said that it was unfortunate that the operative eventually died on Thursday night, adding that it was a terrible loss to the TRACE and the family.

Late Malik who recently lost his mother was survived by an aged father, a wife and two children.  He has since been buried at Lantoro Muslim burial ground Abeokuta according to Islamic rite.
