Interview - Gospel Dj In Ogun State Share is salvation story with Ota Gossip

l am Ayodele Oluwasegun .S popularly known as Gospel Dj X One. I am a lover of positive music, someone who is not ashamed to be called a Christian and definitely not ashamed of the gospel, as it was said in the Scripture of Romans 1 vs 16.

My family background, educational background, etc
I come from a family of 4 children, 2 males and two females. Am the first child after which are my two immediate sisters and my younger brother. I Went to State Senior High School Oyewole Mulero, Agege Lagos. I Studied Business Administration at Lagos State Polytechnic. I grew up at No 14 Adealu Street, dupemu , Agege Lagos State.

My childhood
Growing up in the ghetto street of Agege was very hard as a young boy but thanks to my parents who always spoke the Word of God into our lives daily, l grew up as a church boy and a God fearing one at that.
My salvation story how it all started;
I started my DJ career in the year 2007 as a circular music DJ and promoter and l got coveted in 2012 as a Gospel DJ. During those clubbing days, my club peers at the time organized an event which l went for, one of Nigeria’s big circular artist Oritse Femi was scheduled to perform that day. Some of my friends in school also came for the event and we all knew the night was going to be fun. There were a lot of ladies all through the night and these ladies were all dancing completely nude having fun doing it. In the mist of all this, my friend walked up to me and asked me, is this how you people have fun here every Friday? I replied YES. He went further to say, just imagine that the trumpet sounds now, where do you think you will go to? This question touched my core. However, l kept playing songs after songs for that night because it’s what l love doing.
After the show, my mind was troubled all because of what my friend said to me at the club. After a week, my wife called me and sat me down and then she asked if this is the kind of music l want to play for our unborn baby in the house. She also asked me; can't you use your talent for God? I replied her, where do you see a DJ in the church? The conversation ended that way. Some days later, l began asking God questions and went into fasting and praying. Afterwards, I took my phone and Google (Gospel DJ In Nigeria), Google came up with DJ Gosporella and his profile. I went further to ask some questions such as how to go about the gospel DJ and to God be the glory, that was how l become a gospel DJ since then and l got to work with Gosporella FM for a year.
Today, am a man who was born for gospel music and l have successfully made street gospel music a household essential through Alaba Gospel Mix tape project, Online Mix and 4D praise jam. Am passionate about taking gospel music to all the streets, because the street is where l grew up. Today, people say that Gospel Dj X One has redefined gospel mix for everyone and that makes me so happy but the sky is just the starting point really because I’ve got much more to offer and will continue to preach the gospel of Christ through my turntable, so help me God.
I do DJ jobs for church events and programs, on radio stations and you can also find my mixtape online via or Google. I promote music and work with gospel artists who are upcoming, using the method of Alaba promotion radio, online radio stations and media platforms.
My passion for the street gospel music is beyond comparison. I always feel something great in my heart for artists who are coming up, that share the same passion I have for gospel music.

About the challenges in the industry, am not happy when Christians and corporate organizations owned by Christians refuse to sponsor and promote Christian events, claiming there's no gain in it.
My journey thus far;
Hmmm, at the beginning it wasn't so easy but with God all things are possible. Now am bold and happy to be a gospel DJ, I am most grateful and humbled by the love showed to me by pastors that invite me for their events, family and friends in the church. I am elated that I answered God's calling to move out from the clubs and bars but to be sincere, it was so hard for me to respond to the call initially. God used people around me to deliver His message to me. And to my lovely wife, special thanks to you for your continuous prayers and support.

My parting words or words of encouragement for those who are currently undergoing what l went through before l gave my life to Jesus Christ;
There are so many ways God can speak to you out there. He can speak to you through dreams, prophecies, your pastor or anyone. My prayer is that whenever you hear the voice of the Lord, may the Holy Spirit give you a listening ear and heart. You can't run away from your calling or destiny, and the sooner you know and accept what you’ve been called to do, the better for you. God bless.
