Police apprehend two pipeline vandals in Ogun

Men of the Ogun State Police Command, on Thursday, arrested two suspected pipeline vandals with petroleum products concealed in sacks.

The suspects, Tunde Ramoni, 45, and Yinka Olufowobi, 33, were arrested by policemen attached to the Redemption Camp Police Division, who were on routine patrol of the Simawa Road.

The suspects were reportedly caught with the suspected stolen products at Oloparun village, via Ogijo, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta.

Oyeyemi said the suspects were in a blue Toyota Camry car with number plate RC 862 AAA.

He explained that on sighting the police team, the suspects made an attempt to escape, but they were chased and apprehended.

“On interrogation, the two suspects confessed that they were coming from Oloparun village via Ogijo, where they used to get the product from vandalised pipelines in the area in company with their accomplices, who are living in the Ilara area of Ogijo,” the police spokesperson stated.

He said the state Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects and the exhibits to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad for further investigation with a view to apprehending the accomplices.
